  • Artist Salon
  • RAG@Home
  • Wednesday, November 26, 2025

    7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Cat Hart shares their experiences with various artist residencies and how to work within their differing expectations, locations, and budgets.

There are many art residencies out there, but how do you choose one that fits your practice and goals? Cat will share considerations around place, funding and costs, resources and equipment, and community connections. They will also share some examples of the work they created during the different residencies.

This free online session will be hosted on the Zoom Webinar platform. Pre-registration is required to join.

English captions enabled during the livestream.

Participants are welcome to join in the conversation during the Q+A portion of the event.

    About the Presenter:

Originally from the UK, for the last 20 years Cat has lived on the unceded and stolen homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skxwú7mesh (Squamish) & səlilw̓ ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples in Vancouver. Cat’s work explores memory, place, migration, and biodiversity. Influenced by Indigenous teachings about good land relations, alongside the deepening climate crisis, Cat seeks to develop a site-responsive, ecologically accountable art practice. Their interest in local histories and materials comes from a desire to be deeply connected to place. Cat holds a Masters in Communications from SFU and a diploma in Fine Arts from Langara.

The Artist Salon Series features art professionals leading inspirational artist talks and professional development for visual artists each month from February to November.
