In this session, exhibiting artist Karilynn Ming Ho discusses her newest work featured in Ongoing/Pacific Crossings, a video work that uses the framework of a love story to critically examine AI technology and its complex impacts on the human condition. Drawing from her artist residency in Japan and ongoing research into artificial intelligence, the work explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between human connection, desire, and machine-generated realities.
Alongside insights into her current artwork, Ming Ho will share personal reflections on how motherhood reframes artistic practice from disrupted studio time to evolving materials, themes, and methods of production. What does it mean to make work within structures of childcare, repetition, and limited time?

About the Presenter:
Karilynn Ming Ho is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations in Vancouver. Her work is predominately focused on conceptual, formal and existential ideas surrounding technology, the body, screen-culture and our emotions. She works across a wide range of media including: digital collage, sculpture, video, text, and installation. She has exhibited in solo shows at Art Center Ongoing (Tokyo); Trinity Square Video, Toronto; The Glenbow Museum; Calgary; and Optica Centre d’art Contemporain, Montreal.
