Experience a one-night-only live performance by Montréal-based choreographer and dancer Katie Ward in response to Lam Tung Pang’s exhibition, Out of this World. Inspired by Lam’s visual language and themes, Ward will activate his site-specific installation through movement.
After the performance, Ward will be joined by the artist to discuss the intersection of their respective practices. Curator Zoë Chan will moderate.

About the Artists:
Dance artist Katie Ward works and creates in Tiohtiá:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal. She draws from the inner world of the self – an experience of change connected to the world. Katie’s work emerges from the field of research-based choreography and expanded choreographic practice, creating the conditions for forms, relationships, and meanings to emerge, and inviting audiences to repeatedly revise what they think they are seeing.
Katie has developed stage-based dance performances, spectator-led works, a radio performance, and projects created for other unconventional spaces. Katie offers workshops, practice-sharing, and artistic exchange. She has presented her work in the UK, France, the USA, Québec and across Canada. With Marie Claire Forté, Katie continues to develop the score to dance infinite realities – a practice sharing that actualises dancer’s ever-changing embodied imagination – for dancing that continually forms and re-forms itself. Katie holds a Master of Theatre Practices from Artez University, in Arnhem, Netherlands.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Lam Tung Pang’s artistic practice encompasses painting, drawing, performance, video, and installation. Assembling traditional iconography and found objects, he creates layered allegorical landscapes that engage themes of history, memory, and time. These works capture the nuanced emotions that seep out from beneath the weight of drastic socio-political change. Lam received his BFA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his MFA from Central Saint Martins in London. He was also the recipient of the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship in 2012. Lam’s work is collected by LACMA (Los Angeles), Asian Art Museum (San Francisco), Burger Collection, the Deutsche Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Hong Kong Museum of Art (Hong Kong), Kadist Art Foundation (France and USA), White Rabbit Contemporary Chinese Art Collection (Australia) and M+ (Hong Kong), among others. He was awarded Hong Kong Arts Council Scholarship and the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship to live and work in London and New York respectively. In 2012, he was awarded the outstanding contributions to the development of culture and arts by The Secretary for Home Affairs, Hong Kong.
