In Flights of Serendipity, Mitchell Seeyu invites viewers into a world where fleeting encounters with nature and culture are captured through the fluid washes of colour and soft tonal transitions, drawing on the expressive aesthetics of the Lingnan School of Chinese ink painting. Seeyu draws inspiration from memories of Hong Kong and everyday moments in Vancouver—migratory birds mid-song, playful goldfish beneath blossoms, lion dances in the snow during Lunar New Year. Rendered on xuan paper with nuanced brushwork and atmospheric layering, these scenes evoke a dreamlike harmony between spontaneity and intention, reflecting a life attuned to the serendipitous rhythms of nature.
