Join us this month for a conversation with Richmond-based artist and illustrator, Laura Kwok. Kwok will discuss her journey as a self-taught artist working in illustration and creating her own product line, to moving into the realm of large-scale murals. She will share insights as to how she works with a wide variety of clients, and how to get started in creating commercial works. As our final presenter for the 2020 season, Kwok will also discuss the impacts Covid-19 has had on her work and working process.
Join our chat to discuss how artists can adapt during this time and look forward to 2021. Participants are welcome to send questions they would like the artist to discuss during the live-stream to the Artist Salon host, Kathy Tycholis
About the Artist:
Laura Kwok is an artist and illustrator with a wild heart, young spirit, and old soul. She is captivated by the beauty of nature and her artwork is merely a small ode to the grandeur of the natural world. Her recent work focuses on capturing the fluid and ethereal life cycles of flowers and creating a personal language of floral symbolism as a means of self-expression. Laura is curious about how art plays a therapeutic role in healing humans, creating connections, and strengthening communities.
The Artist Salon Series features art professionals leading inspirational artist talks and professional development for visual artists each month from February to November. The program is supported by the City of Richmond Arts and Culture Grant.
