Get together with friends to make some art at our social Collage Club for adults!
This month’s art-making prompt explores MYTHOLOGY & FOLKLORE, inspired by the current exhibition at the gallery, The Roaming Peach Blossom Spring.
We will provide a large assortment of paper ephemera and imagery for you to cut, paste, and draw mythological creatures, landscapes or stories in collage. Our background ambience will feature music videos that incorporate stories, myth, and folklore to help spark some visual ideas. Inspired by the works in the exhibition, we will introduce some basic drawing and painting techniques that can be incorporated for mixed media collages or zines.
We will also connect to international collage groups for you to share your collage works online by providing printed copies of collage challenges from various sites like the Paris Collage Collective, Kolaj Magazine, and more.
All levels of artistic skill are welcome! Limited spaces, registration is required.
Recommended for ages 16+
$5 per person includes all art supplies and use of our equipment.
Please note – no refunds. Funds raised go towards supporting this program.
First Thursday night of the month, February – December 2025
Open studio time led by gallery staff for adult participants to cut and paste with a variety of materials and tools while you chat, listen to music, and sip some tea at our Collage Club social. RAG staff will open their vast collection of cool collage materials and tools to lead a hands-on art-making night for adults. This is a relaxed environment to provide judgement-free hands-on art-making time.
NOTE: While the focus is on the tenets of collage and cut-and-paste culture, we welcome participant suggestions each month to experiment and play with various art materials and techniques in our art classroom.
