Art At Work: Applying for Public Art Calls

    Location: Richmond Cultural Centre Performance Hall, 7700 Minoru Gate

    This workshop will use mock artist calls as the basis for a hands-on session led by Biliana Velkova, Richmond Public Art Planner. Participants will be provided with guidance and best practices in preparing applications for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).

    FREE Workshop. Registration required due to limited spaces.

    About the Presenter:

    Biliana Velkova is the Public Art Planner for the City of Richmond. In her role, she oversees the City’s Public Art Program. One of the main goals of the Program is to develop opportunities to maximize public art’s potential to engage communities and transform public space. Previously, she was the Arts Coordinator for the City of New Westminster and Executive Director of PAVED Arts in Saskatoon. She has an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan and a BFA from Concordia University. Biliana has an active art practice focusing on social identity and magical realism.


    Art at Work is a series of professional development workshops designed for artists and arts organizations practicing in any artistic medium. The program is presented in partnership by the City of Richmond Arts Services and Richmond Art Gallery. The program is intended to provide artists and arts organizations with knowledge and skills relevant to pursuing a professional practice in the field of public art, performance, visual art and community arts.
