Every fall, Richmond Art Gallery collaborates with Aspire Richmond to present an exhibition at the City Hall Galleria, celebrating the creativity and talents of participants in Aspire Richmond’s Avenues day program.
This year’s exhibition, Inspired Connections, showcases a vibrant collection of mixed-media artworks that capture what inspires participants—their connections to place, memory, culture, and lived experience. For many, art-making is not only a creative outlet, but also a meaningful way to communicate stories and emotions that may be difficult to express otherwise. The creative process brings joy and discovery, while the resulting works open up opportunities for conversations around inclusion, acceptance, and belonging, inviting viewers to see the world through different perspectives.
Aspire Richmond’s commitment to the arts has flourished for nearly twenty years. Programs like this annual exhibition offer a platform for artists to share their unique visions and sell their work, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to them.

Aspire Richmond (formerly Richmond Society for Community Living) is a non-profit organization founded by a group of parents who wanted more for their children than institutional living. Committed to promoting inclusivity and accessibility, Aspire Richmond recognizes and celebrates the unique gifts and talents of each individual. The organization works alongside individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to build personalized support and services that encourage participation, independence, connection, and personal growth.
