Youth Summer Art Intensive Galleries

In August 2020 a select group of youth worked with lead artist Emily Neufeld for 3 weeks in the development of a public art project.  They met online daily, with one session per week hosted at a local park for nature explorations to inspire their final art projects.  These galleries are highlights from the outdoor sessions.

Week 1 : Artist Holly Schmidt leads a sensory walk at the Richmond Nature Park to explore all their senses with a variety of art activities.

Week 2: Herbalist Lori Snyder leads a plant-identification walk through Minoru Park to discuss the uses of all the plants they have collected and drawn the past week.

Week 3: Artist Emily Neufeld discusses strategies for placement of their final artwork at the ponds in Minoru Park.

September 26, 2020 : Public Art Installation is launched at the ponds in Minoru Park and will be on display until October 25, 2020.
