Guest artist Marlene Yuen is a storyteller; she creates comics, prints and book works to convey stories. After years of making one of a kind books, she rediscovered printmaking as being an essential part of her practice. Hear more about Marlene’s works that focus on Chinese Canadian labour history and preservation of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown as she introduces the ideas and methods of creating an artist book.
Learn the basic use of bookbinding tools and materials, along with introductory bookbinding structures, such as: one sheet books, pamphlet stitch and accordion. A basic relief printmaking exercise will be taught to embellish pages of books. This class is ideal for those who wish to learn simple forms for presenting work, or for building fundamental knowledge of bookbinding. All materials provided. Recommended for ages 16+.
Limited capacity, registration required.
