    Best Practices for Artists Working in Public Art

    Professional art conservator Sabina Sutherland will describe different types of materials used to create public art in Richmond’s parks and urban spaces and share how artists can use this knowledge to address the long-term durability and maintenance of artwork in public spaces.

    About the Presenter
    Sabina Sutherland has been a practicing professional Conservator in the Lower Mainland since 2005.  She has worked in some of the major museum and municipal collections to exhibit and preserve art and cultural objects including outdoor public sculpture.  Sabina now works in private practice to care for artwork and archival materials and consults with cultural institutions on long-term collections preservation.


    Art at Work is a series of professional development workshops designed for professional artists and arts organizations practicing in any artistic medium. The program is presented in partnership by the City of Richmond Arts Services and Richmond Art Gallery. The program is intended to provide artists and arts organizations with knowledge and skills relevant to pursuing a professional practice in the field of public art, performance, visual art and community arts.
