Small Dramas & Little Nothings by Montreal artist, Sophie Jodoin, is composed of numerous small drawings exploring the physical and moral suffering of war survivors and the trials of childhood and daily life. Jodoin’s work has the capacity to draw the viewer in to its intimate dramas through the sensitive and proficient handling of her thought provoking subjects. Equally conceptual and representational, her drawn series of works can take up to two years to realize.

This exhibition provides a rare opportunity to view Jodoin’s work on the west coast and the exhibition has been scheduled to coincide with the Fourth Annual Vancouver DRAWN Festival, an event that promotes drawing as an important visual medium.

These week-long morning classes are a great introduction to the world of drawing, and all the many ways you can express yourself on paper! Learn the basics of form, shading, colour, line, and texture from the Art Gallery's professional art educator.

Art Gallery Workshop - Drawing*

Join a guest artist instructor at the Richmond Art Gallery for one drawing session to explore a new drawing technique. All art supplies provided. Each workshop will be taught by a different artist, so that you can explore a new technique and new ideas at each session.
