How Exhibitions are Created
1) Jurying exhibition applications submitted from
artists across Canada and beyond
2) Contacting and working with selected artists
3) Research and writing
4) Preparation of contracts and other paperwork
5) Exhibition promotion and public relations
6) Invitation and publication design
7) Distribution of invitations, press releases and other promotional
material
8) Coordination of a publication - if applicable (text: written by
staff or contract writers, image selection, credit, listing of sponsors,
etc.)
9) Generation of signage, labels and didactic text panels
10) Planning and laying out the installation of the works
11) Coordination of transportation and insurance coverage for works
12) Completion of incoming condition reports for each work
13) Preparation and maintenance of technology if required
14) Exhibition lighting
15) Opening reception planning
Once the exhibition is installed and the opening reception is over there is ongoing maintenance such as ensuring the safety of the artwork at all times, continued promotion of exhibition related activities, liasing with media and maintaining technological aspects of works.
