The Richmond Art Gallery is becoming a contemporary art institution of excellence contributing to the arts community on municipal, regional and national levels.  This progress has been accelerated through the Board's strategic planning as it moves to realize its vision for the Gallery.

Specifically, the Board is improving its competencies in financial management and governance.  We are advancing exhibition practice and educational programming.  Recognizing the strengths of our staff, the position of Curatorial Assistant has been identified as a critical ongoing component for a gallery the size and complexity of the RAG.  The newly created Gallery Attendants Program is vital to the security of artwork on display and plays an important role in welcoming visitors to the Gallery. 

Of course, these initiatives require funding.  In meeting the challenge, the RAG’s extremely successful annual gala, Mirror Mirror, has become our premier fundraiser.  In addition to this entertaining and financially successful event, the RAG must increase its funding through private philanthropy to support, upgrade, expand and add programs.
