Over the past year and a half, the Richmond Art Gallery has been involved in a process of assessment of the storage facilities and the objects in the Permanent Collection. We have also been involved in evaluating the Gallery’s needs and future plans for the Collection. We have established a Didactic Collection (a group of artworks which are a part of the Collection, but which may be exhibited for educational purposes in places not environmentally controlled), and we are in the process of establishing criteria for acquisitions for the Permanent Collection.
With all of this activity around the Permanent Collection, it has been some time since we have exhibited artworks from the Collection. We will take this opportunity to present a few of the many interesting works held, for perpetuity, in the Richmond Art Gallery’s Permanent Collection. At the same time, we will invite floral artists to create designs responding to the artworks displayed. This will be an ever changing exhibition of artwork by artists who produce using a variety of media.
