How to Make Artist Trading Cards

1.  Produce your own artwork in a 2 ½” x 3 ½” format. Any medium on any surface is acceptable.

2.  Sign, date, and edition number (if they are a series) on the back.

3.  Trade your cards with other artists at our monthly trading sessions. Trades are generally one card for one card

What Type of Art is Acceptable?

All types of art can become an Artist Trading Card. You are only limited by the size restriction (2 ½” x 3 ½”) and your imagination.  Some ATC enthusiasts insist that all cards be originals, but others are fine with reproductions of an original artwork. Before you trade with someone, be sure to ask if they only trade originals or if they will accept reproductions.

Cards are generally signed at the back, but you can sign the front if you prefer. Some include addresses or contact information on the back of their cards, but that is optional.

Cards are presented and stored in binders kept in plastic sheets. The plastic sheets are the kind that you would normally see hockey or baseball cards collected in. These hold 9 cards per sheet, and can be found at stationary stores, toy stores, or stores that sell Sports Cards.
