American Tapestry Biennial IV, an International Exhibition

July 4 - August 4, 2002

Colour, texture, design and tradition meld in the making of a tapestry. Contemporary artists continue to use this medium to communicate their personal narratives and to comment on social and political issues and the physical environment. This international exhibition of tapestry is sponsored by the American Tapestry Alliance in connection with Convergence, the Biennial Convention of the Handweavers’ Guild of America being held in Vancouver. The American Tapestry Alliance is an organization of tapestry weavers from the United States, Canada and fifteen other countries. The exhibition will showcase tapestries which express contemporary issues and cultures in diverse ways.
