New Exhibitions / New Faces
We are especially pleased to introduce Jeremy Todd, our new interim Director, taking on Gallery responsibilities while Corrine Corry is away on leave. We invite you to come and meet Jeremy at the opening reception of Ingrid Koivukangas, The Finn Slough Project and Craig Sibley, Biophilia: If Trees had Tears on Thursday March 8, 6:30 - 8:30pm. Jeremy Todd is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, curator and educator (BFA, York U, MFA , UBC). His interests and works often lead to explorations of cultural memory in the formation of socio-economic realities. He has worked as a sessional instructor since 1999 and has taught undergraduate studio, art history and critical theory courses at UBC, ECIAD, North Island College and the Vancouver Film School. He was the Director/Curator for the Helen Pitt Gallery Artist-Run Centre (2003-5). He contributes image/text based works to artist-run publications like Front Magazine on a regular basis, enjoys writing and performing idiosyncratic pop music and maintains an ongoing blog project. He is currently collaborating with members of the Kootenay School of Writing and working with the Richmond Art Gallery as an interim Director. His first independently produced film project, Dear Guy, was completed this February.
