Coming Up

Sign up for new Teachers’ Workshops in the new year!

The RAG’s School Art Program is expanding its popular Art Course for Teachers and offering shorter workshops for teachers who want a quick jumpstart to their visual art curriculum. Designed specifically for Elementary teachers, our Teacher Workshops are one or two day hands-on sessions focusing on a specific art material or technique. Similar to our 9-week art course, teachers receive lesson plans, practical tips for the classroom, and resources for those who want to include more art lessons in their classroom.

See our website for more details: www.richmondartgallery.org, or contact our School Program Coordinator / Instructor at ktycholis@richmond.ca.

Looking Back

Studio Satellite – RAG in the Schools

We gratefully acknowledge, Susan Leong, Branch Manager of No 3 Road and Westminster Hwy (Branch 9720) TD Canada Trust, who presented a cheque to RAGA President Barrie Jones for our Studio Satellite program on December 14, 2006. With the support of TD Canada Trust, Studio Satellite will continue to raise the profile of the visual arts in education by introducing professional artists to Richmond Secondary students in an informal setting within their classroom or in the Gallery. We thank TD Canada Trust for supporting the visual arts in our schools and community.

Goodbye and good luck Cecilia!

After four years as the Gallery’s Art Access Coordinator, Cecilia Denegri-Jette will be leaving us for a new position in Vancouver. Cecilia was truly a “spark plug” of the Gallery and we will miss the vitality she brought to her work and to the people she worked with. We wish her the best.

Mirror Mirror Closing Party

Fundraising

Mirror Mirror

A good time was had by all at Mirror Mirror, the Gallery's end of year exhibition and silent auction fundraiser.  The marvellous Margaret Dragu emceed the event and guests had a lot of fun eating and bidding their way through the evening while grooving to the music provided by Mike Jette (aka dj26).  Local merchants, restaurants, hotels and caterers provided auction items, gifts and delectable edibles for the event. We especially thank the artists who contributed their artworks for auction. Check our website for a complete listing of sponsors and donors. Proceeds from the evening will go toward the Gallery's exhibition and educational programming. We are looking forward to building on the evening's success and we are already thinking about the next theme and photo tableau. See you in December!
