Corrine's visit to Taiwan for the final opening of Place/Displace: Three Generations of Taiwanese Art at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.

RAG Director/Curator, Corrine Corry just returned from her visit to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and the artists and curators related to the exhibition Place Displace: Three Generations of Taiwanese Art.

Artist Talk
The works by Paul Mathieu in the exhibition Making China in China, May 2 - June 1, have been produced in a factory in Jinghezhen, China, a city that has many ceramic factories and workshops that have been functioning for 1,000 years. The story of this work and Paul Mathieu's many visits to china are intriguing. The artist will speak about his experience in China and how this incredible collection of ceramic work came into being on May 29, 7:30. This project is well documented and the images of the experience and the making of the artworks tell an amazing story. Admission is free. Read more...

RAG’s Studio Satellite program went to McMath Secondary School this past March. Kitty Blandy discussed her career as an artist showing for over 20 years in galleries in the U.K., Europe and BC's Lower Mainland. Students were enthralled with her images and stories of her apprenticeship with other artists, her bronze portrait commissions for famous people in England, the art markets in Europe and Canada, technical aspects of sculpture and printmaking, and life as a mature student currently attending the Emily Carr Institute. Celebrating the Arts is the annual Schools Exhibition held at the Gateway Theatre

This year treat yourself to two student exhibitions: April 26 - May 15, the Richmond Secondary Schools show their students’ artworks and May 17 to June 12 the Elementary Schools have their students’ artworks on display at the Gateway Theatre, 6500 Gilbert Road, open for viewing Monday to Friday 12-6pm; Saturday 2-6pm.

Tamaka Fisher's artwork will be on display at the Richmond City Hall Galleria, 6911 No.3 Road, during Asian Heritage Month, April 4 - June 26, 2006. The Galleria is open Monday to Friday 8:15am - 5pm, and closed weekends.

Tamaka Fisher is the owner of an online art gallery and is on the steering committee for the Richmond Arts Coalition. She studied at Emily Carr College of Art and Design, 1981-1982, and is currently studying garden design at UBC. Her work has been exhibited at Open Art, Gulf of Georgia Gallery, Steveston Village Gallery, and the Richmond Art Gallery..
